Xena |

It is with a lot of sadness and shock that I post this tribute to Xena.
"It is with the heaviest of hearts that I let you all know that Xena peacefully passed on this morning at 9:35. This was/will be a great shock to everyone who knew her.
I will try to update as best I can through the tears...
Z had been losing weight and we were concerned (2.5K from last Sept. to May 8 and another 3K from May 8 to last evening). We brought her into Wade (our vet) May 8 so he could have a look at her. After extensive blood work, tests (all negative) and finally x-rays yesterday, we discovered her chest was full of cancer - too many tumors to count. We decided that since the cancer was so metastasized the best course of treatment was Prednisone and a bronchodilator regime along with a higher caloric intake food. She didn't even look ill to the staff yesterday. When Don and I brought her home last night it was almost like she now knew, that we now know she is not well. She didn't sleep at all and was having more and more difficulty breathing throughout the night. So this morning we had to make the toughest of all decisions and let our girl slip into sleep to chase bunnies for the last time. It was very very peaceful for her - though not us" Wendy
I had a great time photographing Xena creating a gorgeous book for Wendy and her husband Don.

Xena was a much-loved participant at our Greyhound Blood Donor clinics. She was so relaxed, she'd hop up on the table, lie down, proffer her leg for the process and then grab a nap. We called her our "Blood Donor Queen".
She will be missed by everyone that knew her.
